OKay so do you think it is worng to insult(create toons) certin clicks of people?

you know, that's a question that comics creators have been trying to answer for some time. i guess it really depends on what kind of "making fun" you're planning to do. if it is a mean form, then i would have to say no, because nobody ever wants to say anything about another human being that could also be said about them (turnabout is fair play, you know).

on the other hand, there is a parodic manner, in which a statement is made about the group of people that is done quite tongue-in-cheek. usually, this involves the use of stereotypes (black people saying "dawg", airheads using the words "as if" every other word, etc.). while not being as wrong, they can still be viewed as offensive.

so, in summary, i think that it's okay to make fun of people, as long as you're doing it in a nice way. and never use names of real people ... they tend to get offended and, often, find you in a courtroom for defamation of character.

as i have often found in questions like these, i ask myself my own set of questions:

    1. will someone be offended by this?

    2. will this hurt my repuation by making this cartoon?

    3. would i want someone to make fun of me and my friends like this?

just ask yourself those three questions, and, usually, you will find the answer to your dilemma. hope that helps!

Humor knows no boundaries. Imposing rules on humor means putting it, and yourself, behind bars.

All three of those questions are disgusting. We have all options you need to save yourself from some offending cartoons. First of all, you don't have to read what you do not like, second, you can flag what offends you.

You have more freedom on toondoo than on many other sites, but people here, especially bigots, asking for more rules to limit other cartoonists. limiting humor and creativity itself in the end.

I will not get along with that. I will fight it and if I end up having all my comics flagged.
